A public-engagement journey to European Maritime Day 2026

We all have our own ways of discovering, visualising and understanding the many facets of ocean sustainability: aboard a vessel, diving underwater, through a microscope, in books, with Virtual Reality glasses, online via a mobile-phone, by collecting litter on the beach or attending a workshop or conference. We are seizing the unique opportunity of European Maritime Day (EMD) 2026 in Limassol, Cyprus, to invite you to "Feel the Blue Senses".

Join an interactive session on coastal ecosystem restoration. Start with the A-AAGORA serious game, then share ideas in a panel discussion and finish with a sensory experience by the shore reconnecting with the sea.

Workshop

LIMASSOL

Join a two-hour creative pottery workshop with Limassol ceramists. Shape your own unfired clay piece to collect later or have shipped locally. Each participant also receives a traditional handmade Cypriot kouza, a terracotta water jug.

Learn about the by-catch problem and solution found in Cyprus through a award winning documentary of the TreeHouse project 'The Cyprus Bycatch Project,' followed by a panel discussion on the topic.

Posidonia oceanica

This workshop covers Posidonia oceanica’s ecology, threats, and transplantation techniques. Divers get underwater restoration and safety training, while non-divers join theory sessions. It promotes collaboration to protect Cyprus’s seagrass and is part of the RESPOSCY project.
